Independent Creators’ Resources & Support Systems was developed by a collective of experienced creative entrepreneurs around a simple idea: Independent creators deserve a system for success without having to make deals that restrict their creative freedom! Being independent doesn’t mean doing everything alone.
Independent Creators’ Resources & Support Systems was created to help creators build the structure around their work that allows them to own it, organize it, protect it, grow it and sustain it. That way, if you do decide to partner with a major entity, then you know the value of what you bring to the deal.
Talent creates the work. But a sustainable creative career also requires systems: a professional identity, an organized business, protected intellectual property, accurate information, the right platforms and tools, an engaged audience, and an understanding of how all of those pieces work together.
Creators are often expected to understand the business of their work while also doing the work itself. Websites, business entities, intellectual property, metadata, distribution, audience development, agreements, royalties and new technology all become part of building a sustainable creative career. Our goal is to make that information easier to understand and put into practice.
The System Behind the Creative Work
Major artists, authors and other established creatives often have teams around them—managers, labels, publishers, attorneys, accountants, marketers, distributors and other professionals helping to manage the business surrounding their work. Independent creators may not have access to that entire infrastructure. But they still encounter many of the same business responsibilities.

We develop and share guides, articles, checklists, tools, explanations, systems and practical resources designed to help independent creators understand what needs to be done—and take the next step. That may mean explaining how to establish the basic structure of a creative business, organize a music catalog and its metadata, protect intellectual property, evaluate a new platform, build a website, establish professional communications, understand a royalty stream or recognize when it’s time to bring in a qualified professional.
The knowledge behind ICRS Systems comes from real work involving independent music releases, artist and label management, music distribution, catalog administration, intellectual property and royalty matters, legacy catalogs, digital platforms, marketing, audience development and the day-to-day systems required to keep creative businesses functioning. That experience is translated into resources independent creators can understand and apply to their own work. IMPORTANT: Independent Creators’ Resources & Support Systems does not replace attorneys, accountants or other specialized professionals when they are needed. Part of building a strong support system is also understanding what you can manage yourself and when you need professional expertise.
